There is a movement to get government to police our eating habits because we can’t choose healthy foods to eat. They claim the American people are incapable of eating foods that do not cause obesity. And that everybody is suffering because people who aren’t fat have to pay rising healthcare costs for people that are fat. They want to ban trans-fat, the fat that allows products to have a longer shelf life and tax things like salt, sugar, and soda.
What the hell is America coming to? I can’t believe people fall for this stuff. First of all why are they assuming that taxing salt, sugar, and soda is going to solve the problem? They tax alcohol and tobacco but everybody STILL drinks and smokes. This is another classic situation of causing the crisis to implement the “solution.”
The big corporations that produce the majority of the food stuff it with unhealthy preservatives, chemicals, hormones, fats, and sugars. Over time we have become addicted to these scientifically created foods that usually do not give our body any benefits except a great taste. I see it like this… Most of us do not actually look at the ingredients list on our food to see what’s in it. And when we do, we see all those things like aspartame and phosphoric acid and don’t bother to look them up. If we looked these harmful additives up, I bet you most of us would start changing our eating habits! I know this from experience. Finding out what the corporations put in food just to save money and get people addicted is an experience in itself.
So if anybody needs to be reigned in it is the creators of the terrible foods. Ultimately, it still comes down to the ignorance of the consumer because if they knew what was in their food they would wonder why anybody would put it in in the first place and would stop buying garbage products, forcing the corporations to change their habits. The corporations created the problem and now the government wants to profit off of it by generating new taxes which will somehow get funneled back to the corporations anyway!

He is brilliant on this subject (and you have hit the nail on the head).
there's also the fact that fresh fruit and other nutrient-rich options cost a hell of a lot more, not to mention the extra time it takes to prep and cook.
When you can get fast food cheaper than real food, is it any wonder the poor are fat? They can't afford to eat well, and while they may be fat, they also are malnourished.
trust me i know why the poor are fat and you're right.
But i find that fresh fruit like an apple will satisfy hunger for much longer than a pot pie or a slice of pizza. The junk foods make you crave more and more junk.
