Do you ever hear or read something that changes your whole perspective on a particular subject? After that, does it inspire you to find out more about what peaked your curiosity? The more I know, the more I realize I don't know.
Challenge yourself. For example, don't just read the "republican" or the "democratic" point of view on healthcare. Read as many viewpoints as you can. Read what the opposition to a certain theory claims. Look at the facts. Find out who the authors of the theories are. Do they have a financial stake in the outcome? Do they hang around a specific type of people that may influence their theories? Then come to a conclusion based on who you are and what you stand for.
And most of all, listen. Proverbs 1:
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance-
6 for understanding proverbs and parables,
the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools [a] despise wisdom and discipline.
