Weezy has claimed he's the Best Rapper Alive for almost three years now. No doubt, he's put in the work, including The Carter and The Carter 2, along with hit mixtapes like The Drought 3 and Dedication 2.
Unfortunately, no matter how great Lil Wayne is, there are numerous reasons why he will never be the Best Rapper Alive.
- He's from the South. I'm from the east coast so I know how east coast hip-hop critics think. This is how a typical conversation with a Weezy fan and an east coast fan goes... Weezy fan: "Lil Wayne is the Best Rapper Alive, come on now, he got The Carter 2, he's on all the mixtapes, he got the girls, he went at Jay-Z, he has to be the best!"
East Coast Head: Son, ay B... Biggie's GREAT, Jay's GREAT, Pac is aight, Wayne... Na son you wildin." Basically, Weezy is like the Barack Obama of Hip-Hop. We need the change, but we're not ready for it. - He's a cokehead. Cocaine is for rock stars Wayne, we don't respect that. Or maybe you consider yourself a rock star since the Shop Boyz made it "cool" to be one. Not to mention you just got pulled over last week and arrested for possession of 105 grams (3.7 ounces) of marijuana, 29 grams (1 ounce) of cocaine, 41 grams (1.45 ounces) of ecstasy.
- He proudly kisses a grown man on the lips. The last thing we need in Hip-Hop is hardcore male on male spit swapping, it's definitely not a good example for any kids. Plus, how do you comfortably call a grown man, who, by the way, has his own children, ya daddy? And tell me why you kicked your leg up, turned your head to the side, closed your eyes, and frenched the Birdman... on camera!?!?
Lil Wayne - My Daddy - He's a whore. Not in that sense, but for the fact that he will rap on anybody's song for some cash. All the great artists in Hip-Hop never saturated the market with themselves, meaning they didn't get on any and everything that had some drums. That's how you play yourself out.
- He hasn't made a HIT song. When I say "hit" I mean top of the billboards. 50 Cent said it best, "Lil’ Wayne is a talented rapper but not a great songwriter. He has had great verses on other people’s projects, but they were not his complete ideas over production that he picked. He’s not marrying the right production and lyrics to make classic hit records."
- Jay-Z is still alive! Yea, in case you were in a hole somewhere, Jay-Z just dropped an EXCELLENT album, American Gangster.
**I am not a Weezy hater. Remember these are not my reasons, just THE reasons in general.**
Wayne is a product of a great work ethic, tremendous swagger, and an A.D.D. society who cant remember what greatness really is.
Todays average hip hop fan has no idea who Rakim is, shit, they barely remember 'Pac. All they know is what you have done lately, and in 2007 who has dominated the radio?
Weezy F. Baby
Understand Weezy had 77 songs on the radio last year.
77!?!
So all the common fan would do is turn on the radio and hear him, and say "Hey, he must be good, he's all over the radio."
So then the record label sees that the buying public likes weezy and throw their new artist on a track with him, or push out a lead single with weezy on it, and the cycle repeats.
And Like I said this is an A.D.D. society we live in , so the thing people remember the most is the last thing they heard, or what they hear the most. and what they hear the most is Dwayne Carter.
I think we must give Weezy his credit, I believe he knows this and thats why he jumps on eveybodies remixes. He's trying to keep his name in that conversation of all time greats.
To be honesty Weezy isnt a top 10 rapper, hell he isnt even in the Top 10 of rappers from the south, but its like i said before, its been so long since today's hip hop fan has been around greatness, that they dont know what greatness really is.
All they know is what the radio, MTV, and 106&park tell them, and all them say the same thing.
Weezy F baby.

You hit it on the head yo. I posted this on a forum and it made a big Rakim vs. Wayne debate?! http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235027
jay-z said in heart of the city "im not a rapper"
jay-z said in heart of the city, "I thought i told you characters i'm not a rapper"
The reason he won't be the best rapper is because he is getting high off of the syrup! It's not a secret that rappers get high and drunk, but he's slowly killing himself with that shyt.
yea the syrup is not a good look and hopefully Wayne hasn't fell into the trap of thinking he has 2 die to b one of the greats lol
lol about jay z... he was the best rapper he should have left on that note as having many classic albums under his belt... he came back released 2 albums wich wer average at best... he aint the best currently
seems like u ride 50 and gunit slitly 2 hard and not only dat wev seen a video of 50s camp snortin coke nd ur sayin its a rockstar drug or w/e.. man u crazy
weezy bin talkin bout the rockstar life since his early drought 1, 2 days.. he can argubly sets trends not follows them...he was the 1st person to use drop it like its hot(Tha block is hot album) in a song and every1 started usin it
rappers willingly get him on songs showing hes in demand..he has gone platinum twice, double platinum, and gold 3 times.. which although arent amazing show promise as he is only 25 with 6 albums and a handfull of classic mixtapes(dedication 1 & 2, The prefix, Carter 3 Leak Songs etc)
he isnt the best rapper alive yet but he will be
lol its all comedy homey who is this? You should register and make a username and come thru more often.
Wayne is the hottest rapper in the game and if you know me you would know I'm one of the few Weezy fans who been listening since the block is hot. EVERY ALBUM I GOT IT. I got atleast 600 Weezy tracks on my cpu... so u judged me too quick.
And the point about the south was, alot of people don't respect southern rappers, haven't you heard Shooter? He says it himself. Go to Lil Wayne posts and you'll figure out whether I like Wayne or not.
Jayz Not a good rapper. Drake is the new face of hip-hop. but Wayne was before him though.
