In a crucial time in the rap game, T.I. is speculated to be going down for up to 10 years on illegal possession of deadly weapons.Ay! It's important that we campaign for T.I. in all ways possible by shedding light on his situation, but not judging him before he gets to present his side of the story.
This is what some hip hop heads have to say about T.I.'s situation:
Jermaine Dupri: When I first heard about T.I. getting arrested, it was kinda sad for me. We got the same lawyer, so I think I knew about it before everybody. It was kinda messed up because you got a dude that’s at the top of his game. He got nine nominations [at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.] He had more nominations than anybody. That award show could have potentially been that springboard to take him to the next level. For that [arrest] to happen, I think it’s a tragic thing. From what I know, it ain’t no chances to beat the case. There’s a three-strike rule out there, and it’s his third strike. I’m hoping that somebody can figure out something to change that. But from what I’ve seen, the way they’re treating celebrities right now in this day and age, it don’t seem like it’s any possibility.
Chamillionaire: I was at the BET Awards and was getting a bunch of text messages about it. But I didn't believe the arrest was true because I saw him in good spirits at the BET pre-party the night before. I realized it really happened when he wasn't present to accept his award at the show. I didn't want to believe that something like this could happen to T.I. at the height of his career. I just think at this point, nobody knows the full story and all of the intricate details of the case. We shouldn't pass any type of judgment based off speculation. Hopefully the outcome will be a good one, and not just for the T.I. fans.
DJ Khaled: I couldn’t believe it, man. T.I. is a person that reps the community and represents hip-hop and represents the people and does a lot for a lot of people. He did a lot for me, too. He got on my record, “We Takin' Over” and made history with me. Besides music, he reps the kids, charities, all that stuff. I felt really sad because he got a family. He got kids. He’s not a threat to society at all. I think that God is the best I think he’s gonna lead him forward through his trials and tribulations. So it’s in God’s hands. Everything is alleged. I don’t know what’s really going on. All I know is what the media talks about. It gets crazy. Nobody knows the facts. I think that he’s innocent and he’s gon' be all right.
